National Tree Day 2025 is rolling into Afton Street Conservation Park, and they’re inviting every local legend (and their four-legged sidekick) to get their paws and hands dirty for a good cause.
This free community planting event is all about rolling up sleeves, planting seedlings, and connecting with others who care about our patch of Melbourne. Plus, there’s free snacks, hot drinks and a good old-fashioned BBQ to reward your hard work.
While you’re there, kids can get stuck into wildlife activities, explore the banks of the Maribyrnong River and meet the community groups who help keep Country cared for year-round.
And yep, it’s a dog-friendly event in Essendon West. Bring your pup along (on lead, of course) to sniff out new smells, watch the action and charm the other planters. Just remember to pack a water bowl.
Before you head home, grab your free native seedling to plant in your own backyard, a little leafy reminder that your Sunday did more than just tire out the dog.
