Dogs love it. Humans breathe easily. R.J. Sillitoe Reserve in Hampton is one of the best fenced dog parks in Bayside, because it keeps things simple.
It’s a fully fenced off-leash area. It’s an ample space. And there’s loads of room to run, sniff, roll, repeat.
At heart, this is a community dog oval. The kind of spot where regulars nod hello, poodles do zoomies, and first-time pups learn the ropes without the stress. There’s enough space to steer clear if your dog’s still finding their social feet.
The oval’s surrounded by tall mesh fencing, with access points from Lawson Street, Olive Street and Ludstone Street. Most are gated, although there is one open gap on the Lawson Street side, so just keep an eye out for that. Parking’s easy, bins are plentiful, and the poo bag dispensers? Usually stocked.
You’ve got shade thanks to a few gum trees, plus some garden beds that seem to call dogs like sirens. And if nature calls you, there are public toilets near the shiny new pavilion.
It’s worth noting the space is shared with local sports. On match days, parts of the oval might be in used, but there’s still room to roam, and it brings a bit of energy to the place.
This is the kind of fenced dog park in Hampton that makes you want to come back. No fluff. No fuss. Just good vibes and happy dogs.

Getting there, parking and peak times
If you’re driving, Lawson Street is your best bet for off-street parking. Otherwise, there’s usually plenty of street parking around the other entrances, even on weekends.
The oval is shared with local sports clubs, especially soccer in winter and cricket in summer. During matches, part of the park might be in use, and it gets a bit busier. That said, there’s still room to run, just be mindful of the extra noise and crowds.
Best times to visit? Early mornings and late afternoons during the week are quieter. Weekend mornings get more social, with regulars turning up for a lap and a chat.
